PURSUING ‘GOD’S BEST’ FOR US!

Hey Mommas, Hey!

If you follow me on social media, you may have seen that this weekend we went to a Harvest Market at the local Christmas Tree farm.  This is an annual outdoor event that allows vendors from the community to sell goods and there are lots of Fall goodies for purchase!

Although it’s a Christmas Tree Farm, they’d advertised that there would be a “farm animal petting zoo”.  I told the little guy about this special feature to get the excitement-juices flowing and to convince him to sleep well that night.  His first question was, “Will there be horses?”  I had no idea if there would be, so I told him we’d just have to wait and see.

When we arrived to the barn, instead of his expectation of animals, there were vendors.  We walked around a corner and finally, there were the animals he’d anticipated!  A chicken, a sheep… and a DONKEY???  As I saw his little eyes dart around and looking for a much larger ‘horse’, I proactively said, “Hey buddy isn’t this donkey cool?!”, his response, “But where’s the horse? Horses are better…”

Our little guy had seen horses the previous year, we’d fed them at a local farm and he knew that this donkey was nothing in comparison to the big beautiful horses we’d seen then.  Because he knew that there was greater for him, he found it difficult to have contentment with something less.  He accepted and was blessed with what was in front of him, yet he continued to strive for what was best … Ain’t that a word!

GOD’S BEST:

Have you ever felt that God’s placed a passion, a vision, or goal that leads you in pursuit of what He has for you?  To wonder what God’s Best is?  Sometimes His best for us may be in a promotion, relocation, or maybe you’re like me and His best for you involves quitting your job to stay home with your littles (Jesus be a babysitter, ha!).

While in pursuit of God’s Best, we must remain in pursuit of Him; this involves a requirement to remain in His word.  As we seek God’s Best for us, we must also seek His will for our lives.  Now this may seem complicated, but really all we’re doing is committing daily time to intentional prayer, and reading His word.   This can be in the form of a devotional, Bible study, or just opening the Bible and reading the pages.

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

This week let’s pray together.  Below is a prayer similar to the one that I began about 6 years ago; I was in a place in my career and life where I felt stuck and unfulfilled.  I began to pray this prayer and focus on God, He began to change my heart, my mind, and my desires to align with His will for me.  (Now, I’m just as imperfect as you Sis, so I still struggle at times, but when I pray this prayer, my spirit realigns in a pursuit of God’s will, not mine.)

Prayer:

Dear God,

I pray that you would align my heart, mind, desires, and spirit with your word and will.  I pray for clarity and understanding in what steps you would have me to take.  I pray that the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight dear God.  I pray that you would use me and have your way in my life.  I thank you that your word says you have a plan of purpose for my life, and that you promise me hope and a future.  Not my will dear God, but yours.

In Jesus Name, Amen

APPLICABLE BIBLE VERSE:

Jeremiah 29:11 & 13, Matthew 6:33, Deuteronomy 6:5, Psalm 19:14, Psalm 138:3

This morning the Lord had me in Psalm 138, what stood out to me was, “On the day I called, you answered me” (Psalm 138:3).  Simple, but what it speaks to me is that we have to do the work of calling and pursuing God first.  It’s like His invitation to fulfill his promises.  Mommas, my prayer is that you and I will continue to call God to fulfill ‘His Best’ in our lives.

  1. Wow! This blog spoke directly to me as I am in the phase of truly pursuing God’s best for my life no matter what that looks like. It’s a bit scary and exciting at the same time because God’s plan doesn’t always match what we want yet His plan is so beautiful in our lives.

    1. Hi April! I completely agree! There are so many times where “God’s best” isn’t quite what we expect. I’m so thankful that ultimately His plan is for our good. Thank you for connecting!
